‘NC, how’s the josh?’ Beaming Abdullahs after victory in Jammu and Kashmir

As the National Conference-Congress combine heads to a victory, NC leader Omar Abdullah’s sister Safia Abdullah Khan posted a photo of herself with her brother and mother and asking party workers ‘How’s the Josh’, a famous dialogue from the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike.
“NC wallon, how’s the josh, (people of NC, how’s the josh),” Safia Abdullah Khan tweeted.
According to the Election Commission, the NC won 41 seats and was ahead on one, while the Congress won six seats. The BJP won 29 seats, the PDP got three and seven Independents won. AAP, People and CPI-M won one seat each, respectively.
Omar Abdullah contested from Budgam and Ganderbal Assembly constituencies and won both.
Earlier in the day, Omar Abdullah’s father and NC supremo Farooq Abdullah said his son would become the Chief Minister, stating that the mandate was clear.
The NC and Congress agreed to contest the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, held after a decade, under a 51:32 seat-sharing formula. The election was also the first to be held after Jammu and Kashmir lost its special status in 2019.
Omar Abdullah served as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2009 to 2015. He also served as the Leader of Opposition from 2015 to 2018, when the BJP-PDP government collapsed and the erstwhile state came under Governor’s Rule before President’s Rule was enforced.
